LRT update

Light rail transit is a step closer to becoming a reality in Hamilton. The LRT sub-committee met with Metrolinx to iron out the details of an agreement that would give the provincial transportation service final say in the project.

Metrolinx will foot the $1-billion bill, the city will have the final say on decisions that involve improvement of assets like water pipes, affected by the project.

Final design and construction is set to start August 2018 with service to start in 2024.
