The man accused in the vicious murder of an 82 year old Hamilton man took the stand in his own defence on Thursday.

Loujack Cafe is accused of first degree murder and he told the jury he was obeying voices in his head when he stabbed George Burnett more than 40 times in 2011.

Loujack Cafe had been interviewed by police for hours before he asked to come back for the confession.

In his confession, Cafe says he saw Burnett’s open door, then went to get different clothes and weapons from his neighbouring apartment, before committing murder.

The prosecutor suggested the story changed when Cafe realized his first version constituted planning a murder – making it a first degree crime.

Cafe told the jury he didn’t feel killing Burnett was morally or legally wrong, because the voice that commands him is above human law. The trial continues Friday.
