Loujack cafe, a 29-year-old Hamilton man was found guilty last month in a St. Catharines court on four counts of attempted murder and one for assault. He was sentenced to life in prison Friday.

Cafe appeared at John Sopinka courthouse in Hamilton in front of Justice James Ramsey. His lawyer, Christopher Hicks, asked for a 12 to 14 year sentence but instead Ramsey handed Cafe the maximum sentence in four of the attacks and five years for the aggravated assault charge.

The sentence comes as a result of a series of random, unprovoked stabbings in 2011 where Cafe attacked his victims from behind. The first incident was in March 2011 followed by four more between November and December that same year.

Cafe was already serving a life sentence after he was found guilty last year of killing his neighbour, George Bernett.
