A St. Catharines court heard more details today about what police found in the home of 82 year old George Washington Burnett. He was found murdered in his Hamilton home in 2011.

Today the jury got an up close look at the murder weapons. They were shown the two knives that were found in George Burnett’s home.

A Hamilton police forensics officer testified the knife with a brown handle, that measures 34 cm long, was found in Burnett’s neck. Another one, with a black handle, was found broken on the kitchen counter. Both were covered in blood.

Burnett was found dead in his bed in his Stirton Street home.

An autopsy found 46 stab wounds to his body and 3 cuts to his head.

The jury was shown the grey undershirt and green shirt burnett was found in, both blood soaked. The court heard there were 25 individual cut marks on the shirts.

The defence lawyer brought up the fact that police found no DNA evidence and no finger prints at the crime scene. There also were no signs of forces entry.

The jury was also shown a picture of a bloody footprint that was found on the kitchen floor that police believe matched the soles on a pair of shoes found in a picture in a hotmail account belonging to the accused killer Loujack Cafe.

Cafe is charged with first degree murder. He sat in the prisoners box watching and listening intently, and making eye contact with people inside the court room. He’s pleaded not guilty.
