Local resident killed in Norfolk County crash

Provincial Police have identified the victim of Friday’s fatal crash in Norfolk County as a local resident.

OPP officers were called to a collision between a car and a bus around 5 p.m. Friday.

Investigators say the vehicle was travelling westbound on Windham Rd. 12 when it collided with the bus, which was heading southbound on Nixon Rd.

Both vehicles caught fire, but police say all 29 people aboard the bus escaped without injury.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

He’s been identified as 81-year old Hugh Elliott.

The investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
