The city of Fort McMurray is still under mandatory evacuation but officials are now saying much of the city’s key infrastructure remains intact. That being said, over 80,000 residents are still displaced, along with their pets.

The Canadian Red Cross has collected over $60 million to help the people of Fort McMurray but since last week, people in Southern Ontario have been wanting to do more than just donate money. CDT Disaster recovery in Hamilton has sent 14 trucks from Canada and the U.S. to Fort McMurray to start cleaning up after the fires. Along with equipment, they’ve volunteered to truck donations to Northern Alberta.

Shannon Kemp of Pacex Transportation Solutions in Hamilton is working with Cam Scott Transport out of Whitby to also get donations to the residents of Fort McMurray. They’re collecting clothing, diapers, and toileties.

“We are a drop location, 568 Beach Road Hamilton, you can drop the items here, we hope to be leaving on Wednesday at 11 am we have pickups along the way.”

Cam Scott Transport is even trucking pet supplies to Northern Alberta, the Oakville Milton Humane Society was inundated with donations over the weekend.
