Local Filipino community reacts to Haiyan

Typhoon Haiyan, which ravaged the Philippines, appears to be the most powerful storm on record.
Officials in the devastated country say the super typhoon has caused a tsunami-like disaster. The Red Cross confirms 138 people have died but it is feared 10,000 people may have been killed in one city alone.
Ferocious winds and giant waves washed away homes and schools in the city of Tacloban. Witnesses there say they’ve seen hundreds if not thousands of bodies lying along the streets covered with tarps, roofing sheets and cardboard.
A massive relief operation is underway and the president is considering declaring a state of emergency or martial law in Tacloban.
The Canadian government is offering to assist in any way it can, and has already promised to provide as much as $5 million to support aid groups.
