Little library stolen

A woman who has been living in St. Catharines for over a decade was trying to share an act of kindness with her community. But yesterday she found out her gift to her neighbourhood was ripped right off of her lawn.
Outside of Denise Stone’s home, instead of a free little library, there’s a sign asking for the library back.
“I don’t know why anyone would take the library.”
Stone was the proud owner of a free little library in St. Catharines on South Drive. A movement offering books to everyone. They could choose to take a book or leave one. But yesterday morning, she noticed hers was gone.
“I have great neighbours, and this was just my way of sharing my love of reading with other people.”
It wasn’t only an act of kindness to Denise, but a special gift, hand-crafted for her by her brother. It sat on a metal tripod out front and was an exact replica of her house. And denise can only guess why it was taken.
“The only thing I could think is that they took it for the metal; I’m not sure. ”
And one neighbour did say that the tripod was so heavy and so driven into the ground, that this is likely the work of at least a couple of people. The other neighbours are not happy about this either.
“It’s really a shame, there’s a lot of pointless vandalism that goes on. For somebody to come into the community and just say I don’t know and I don’t care, it’s just plain sad.”
Whoever it was decided they didn’t want the books as they left them outside Denise’s house.
Denise doesn’t know who did it or why. But what’s most important to her, is getting her library back home. And even if she doesn’t she will definitely be putting another library back.
It won’t stop her from keeping the community happy.
