The City of Hamilton is planning to honour Lincoln Alexander with a statue.

Next week, councillors will vote on the $300,000 project. According to the report, a public process would be initiated to determine the details of the project, such as the location. The statue is expected to be installed sometime in 2016.

Alexander was Canada’s first black MP and federal cabinet minister, as well as the province’s first black lieutenant governor.
