Leaders preparing for French language debate

NDP leader Tom Mulcair and Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau were on the campaign trail Thursday emphasizing their parties goals ahead of Friday’s debate. Tom Mulcair says the country needs a Prime Minister with a long-term vision to fight climate change. At a campaign stop in Montreal this morning, he promised an NDP government would spend 200-million dollars over four years to help retro-fit 50-thousand homes and 15-thousand apartments to make them more energy efficient.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau was also in Montreal today. He’s promising to spend 20-billion dollars over the next decade on new funding for transit projects. Trudeau says he’ll be focusing on his party’s economic plan at tomorrow’s French-language debate..
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Joe Oliver says if the Conservatives are re-elected, they would introduce a two-year, mandatory minimum sentence for financial fraud over five-thousand dollars, unless the offender pays full restitution.
Oliver was standing in for Stephen Harper today as the Conservative leader prepares for tomorrow’s debate in Montreal.
