Laura Secord celebration

Celebrations were held this morning to remember the achievements of Laura Secord at her homestead in Queenston.
The War of 1812 heroine is remembered for walking 32 kilometres from Queenston to Beaverdams to warn the British of an imminent invasion by the Americans. Friday morning, a commemorative stamp and coin honouring Secord were unveiled. Saturday morning, more than a thousand people will take part in a commemorative re-enactment walk. They’ll start at Secord’s homestead and end at Decew House in Thorold.
