Fans of a diner at Hamilton’s Confederation Park are getting all the fresh made burgers, fries and milkshakes they can before it’s too late. The Beaches Grill and Patio has been run by Tom and Bev Messina for more than 10 years but their homestyle cooking doesn’t seem to fit on the new menu Hamilton is creating for the park.

The city hasn’t finalized its vision for this park yet, in January councillors agreed to rename it Confederation Beach Park but next week is the next planning meeting for the park. The city has a concept diagram on its website, Beaches Grill and Restaurant is seen as an upgraded washroom building.

The Messina’s lease is up after this summer, to continue they would need to take on a longer lease and spend hundreds of thousands on upgrades. They’re not blaming the city of Hamilton’s new vision.
