Large turnout for BRIGHT run fundraiser for breast cancer research

The area’s largest volunteer-led fundraiser “BRIGHT Run” happened at Christie Conservation Area on Saturday.
BRIGHT or “Breast Cancer Research in Greater Hamilton Today,” holds a non-competitive, family-friendly 5 km run on the first Saturday after Labour Day.
There were about 1,500 participants at the event today, most of them breast cancer patients, their families, friends, and healthcare workers.
Event Chair Nancy McMillan says the Bright Run was created due to a need for a local event.
In the past 15 years, the event has raised over $5.5 million for local breast cancer research.
