Lakeview Lodge at Juravinski Health Centre to close

Out of town cancer patients at Hamilton’s Juravinski Health Centre will have to stay in hotel rooms, now that Lakeview Lodge is scheduled to close.

The facility, attached to the back of the hospital, offers 20 hotel-like rooms.

It will be closing at the end of March.

The closure is part of Hamilton Health Sciences budget cutting measures.

Dr. Ralph Meyer, President of the Juravinski Hospital says patients who are eligible to stay at the lodge will also have their hotel costs covered when the facility closes.

The three unionized registered practical nurses at Lakeview Lodge will not be losing their jobs.
