Lack of casino details baffle councillors

Hamilton city councillors are frustrated that they don’t know anything about the casino the city is being asked to host.

City staff have told councilors they probably won’t know anything about the casino proposed by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, unless potential developers provide information. Since zoning is already in place for a casino in the city, it would be hard to stop the OLG from pushing ahead.

Hamilton is facing a March deadline from the OLG to make a decision. A motion was passed last night directing city staff to come back to council with suggested conditions that should be placed on a new casino.
