Labour Council holds annual Labour Day Parade

The Labour Day Classic isn’t the only tradition playing out today. The Hamilton Labour Day Parade was also held downtown.
The event put on by the Hamilton and District Labour Council started on York Blvd at 10:30 this morning.
Rolf Gerstenberger, president of Steelworkers Local 1005 calls it a chance to rally around common concerns.
“It’s a day of labour, when the workers come out to celebrate their achievements in the last year and to talk about, actually get together and talk about what we can do about what’s going on. It’s a Labour Day, along with May 1st is the other day of international working class day celebration.”
The parade wound its way along Main and wrapped up with a picnic at Dundurn Park.
