The sacrifice made by Canadian Forces was honoured today in Burlington at a special luncheon for veterans of the Korean War.

One of the organizers, Donald Kennedy says the gratitude of Koreans were felt strongly even today.

“The Koreans have such a great depth of gratitude for the veterans, and Canadian veterans are especially honoured because we went there, we fought, some of us died, a lot were wounded and then we left. We didn’t ask anything and it’s almost the same type of reception over there as we do in Holland.”

The Ambassador Medals were minted in Korea.

The Korean War from 1950 to 1953 saw the contributions of 26,000 Canadians.

516 soldiers were killed in combat.
