Kitchener’s Grand River Hospital is canceling fifteen surgeries, due to staff shortages caused by a gastrointestinal outbreak on the surgical unit, 5-north.

Eighteen staff members are currently recovering at home from symptoms. Eight surgeries scheduled Wednesday have been cancelled and seven cases Thursday. The hospital says it’s a temporary situation that will not affect emergency cases.
