Kids thank veterans

A program’s giving kids a chance to learn more about Remembrance Day – veterans – and our service men and women.

The program is called postcards to veterans and kids all across the country are participating, including students in grades one through five in a YMCA after-school program at St Lawrence Catholic Elementary School in Hamilton.

Tonight about 20 kids put pen to paper to write thank you cards to veterans and current Canadian forces members for the sacrifices they have made.

Veterans Affairs provided the group with reading materials on previous and current wars, as well as significant battles such as Vimy Ridge so the students can learn about Canadian military history.

Melissa Raftis talked to them about why it’s important to remember those who have given so much to our country.
