2 Hamilton women just returned from Paris, France after winning the world title in Pairs freestyle jump rope. They make it look easy but mastering the routine involved years of training and hundreds of hours of practice.
Culminating in a gold medal at the Grand World Championships in single rope Pairs free style skipping, Kaitlyn Simpson and Eilea Given say their sport requires stamina, flexibility, strength and creativity.
“One of the challenges is the balance in all of those things, being a well rounded jumper and having to do all of it.”
Skippers can compete free style where they’re judged on accuracy, presentation and level of difficulty or they can go for pure speed. You can also go solo, or team up and double dutch.
Both women recommend it as a cheap, easy way to get your heart pumping.
