Joseph Brant expansion timetable revised

Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington is revising its re-development and expansion plans.

The $300-million project will now include a new seven-storey tower, with a new emergency department, and an ICU with 28 beds. The tower will include 172 new beds in total. The original plan was to renovate the current emergency room. The project also includes nine new operating rooms and an expanded cancer clinic. Construction is expected to start in early 2015 and the new tower is due open in 2018.
