An action centre opened today for Automodular workers who lost their jobs in October.
The centre allows Unifor local 1256 members to reconnect with their former co-workers, and provides resources for them to find other work. The resources include interview prep and resume workshops.
Over 500 positions were lost at Automodular plants in Oakville, which produced parts that Ford will now make in-house.
Local 1256 president Angus MacDonald explains the centre’s aim: “We will look after the needs of our members and bring the service providers into the local here and into the action centre.”
Former Automodular worker Jenna Pittz says “I find it a lot more comfortable than going to a regular resource centre. You feel a lot more comfortable in to ask for help.”
