Jagmeet Singh steps down as NDP leader

Jagmeet Singh has announced he will be stepping down as leader of the New Democratic Party.
Speaking to his supporters in Burnaby, Singh congratulated Carney on his projected win before announcing his resignation as Party Leader.
“He has an important job to do – to represent Canadians and protect our country and its sovereignty,” he said.
“Obviously I know this night is a disappointing night for the New Democrats. […] I will be stepping down as party leader as soon as an interim leader can be appointed.”
Singh is currently running third in his riding in Burnaby.
“It’s been the honour of my life to represent the people of Burnaby Central,” Singh said at an event.
“Tonight they chose a new Member of Parliament and I wish them the best as they continue to work hard for this community.”
