A Hamilton man guilty of murdering his ex-wife and stabbing his niece found out Friday how much longer he will be behind bars.

Cengiz Isiko was given a 12 year sentence for the attack on 13 year old Rumeysa Cosgun. The judge read parts of Cosgun’s statement, saying the teen still has nightmares and that she can’t look at her scars because it reminds her of what happened.

Isiko got mandatory life in prison with no chance of parole for 25 years, for murdering his ex-wife Muruwet Tuncer. He will serve both sentences at the same time – meaning the earliest he may get out would be 2036. Cristina Tenaglia was in the court with the family:

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story stated that Isiko would serve the sentences back to back. This is not the case and has been corrected.
