Investigation into Undercliffe fire continues

Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office are still trying to determine what caused the blaze that destroyed a home in Hamilton’s historic Durand neighbourhood.
The scene on Undercliffe Avenue Monday afternoon was that of a block of ice. The home near the intersection of Bay Street South and Aberdeen Avenue is covered in a blanket of ice and giant icicles. There was also a partial roof collapse. The fire happened after 10 Saturday night. The couple who lives in the home got out safely but the damage is estimated to be around $800,000. Firefighters were able to keep the flames from spreading to neighbouring homes.
