Inventor Nikola Tesla influence on the “Electric City” celebrated by Hamiltonians

The Nikola Tesla Education Corporation held a festival today to educate Hamiltonians on the history and connection that the inventor has to the city.
Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor born in 1856. Tesla helped design the modern alternating current electricity supply. Because of him, Hamilton became known as the “Electric City”
The inventor’s ideas inspired Tesla Motors to create electric powered vehicles. Today, many came out to check out the Tesla cars that were on display today at Van Wagners Beach.
Ranging from $74,000 to $150,000, Tesla vehicles are not affordable for the average person. But the newest Tesla Model Three will start at $35,000 which will compete with other manufacturers of electric cars.
But it’s not just about the cars.
Nikola Tesla continues to inspire young minds who are using his ideas and taking them to the next level.
Fourteen-year-old year old Michael Wolfe invented a solar powered, wireless electric car charger. And 18-year-old Ahmed Ibrahim used coils invented by Tesla to provide an electrical field around the brain by using a head piece so someone can think about moving a prosthetic limb and the limb will move.
Nikola Tesla invented X-rays, radio, remote control, laser, and of course the electric motor just to name a few of his inventions. Last year in Hamilton, a portion of Burlington Street was renamed to Nikola Tesla Boulevard to honour the inventor who paved the way for our current technologies.
