The Hamilton Cardinals opened up the 2014 IBL season in Burlington today, but an accident in the fourth inning put the game on hold.

Hamilton had an early lead, sending all batters to the plate and scoring four times.

In the bottom of the 4th inning, Zack Ranta was seriously injured, breaking his ankle.

An ambulance was called for him, but when his manager came out to check on his player — he fainted after seeing his ankle.

“I made the mistake of looking after they cut open his pants,” Matt Fortuna said “apparently my stomach is not as strong as I thought it was.”

The Cardinals will host the Burlington Bandits on Sunday, May 18th.
