Indigenous arrowheads found at Hamilton’s Victoria Park splash pad

The rebuild of Hamilton’s Victoria Park splash pad has been temporarily halted because of a unique find.
Indigenous arrowheads dating back thousands of years were uncovered, the oldest potentially dating back as far as three to four and a half thousand years ago.
Other artifacts discovered in the park include a carved bone domino, a piece of a plate, an 1859 Victoria cent, and a military button.
More archaeological work is expected to take place late next week.
The City of Hamilton wants to remind people that archaeological sites like this one are protected, and anyone caught disturbing them could face up to a $1 million fine.
