Improper rag disposal blamed in Port Rowan fire

A blaze caused $40,000 worth of damage to a century building in Port Rowan.

Crews from three Norfolk County fire stations were called, when flames broke out around 7:30 last night.

The Boat Works was at one time used as a jail in the Lake Erie town. The current owner built boats in the front and was renovating the back for a living area.

Investigators say the fire was started by linseed oil-soaked rags that had been disposed of in a garbage can.
