Impaired driver charged after collision in a Brant construction zone

One person faces four charges after the OPP investigated a single-vehicle collision that occurred early Sunday morning in Brant.

Police responded to a reported collision in a construction zone on Brant Rd. near German School Rd. around 1 a.m. where they found a sole passenger in the vehicle.

The driver was later located after residents in the area called police about an unknown person on their property.

There were no reported injuries in the collision.

Police have arrested and charged Claudio Luigi Saggese, 29, of Brantford with four charges including operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus and failure to remain at the scene.

Saggese has been released from custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.

OPP reminds drivers to report any suspected impaired drivers by contacting police immediately.
