Identified case of tuberculosis at St. Jean de Brébeuf

An active case of pulmonary tuberculosis disease was recently identified in an individual at St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School in Hamilton.
The individual is being treated and Public Health has been working closely with school officials to identify any persons who may have been at risk of exposure to the disease. Public Health Services will also be offering TB skin test clinics at St. Jean de Brebeuf.
Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by bacteria that are spread from person to person through the air. TB usually affects the lungs but it can also affect any other body part. You can visit the City of Hamilton’s website for more information- hamilton.ca/search/site/tuberculosis
There is no ongoing risk of tuberculosis spreading to people attending or working at the school.
