Hundreds rally in support of Palestine at Hamilton City Hall

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in support of Palestine outside of Hamilton’s City Hall Sunday calling for Canada to do more in promoting peace as the war continues to escalate.
Crowds condemned what they described as Israel’s siege of Gaza as they marched on Main Street and King Street before rallying in front of City Hall.
The protestors say Israel is guilty of war crimes for its siege and bombing of Gaza and called on governments, including Canada’s, to work towards peace in the Middle East.
They called for Canada to recognize Israel as an apartheid state and that the government should take immediate action.
“Canada, the United States and other western countries are standing with a genocider and oppressor,” said one demonstrator.

“What the Israelis are doing, denying water and fuel to the people of Palestine. They are committing a crime against humanity,” says another.
On Saturday, pro-Palestinian protesters made their way to the annual federal NDP convention being held at the convention centre in downtown Hamilton as the party considered a resolution demanding the release of hostages and war crimes investigations to be conducted.
This follows Israel’s warning for Palestinians to evacuate northern Gaza in response to the attack led by Hamas that left more than 1,200 people dead.
As the protest was held Sunday, the Palestinian Health Authority is reporting more than 2,300 people dead in Gaza in the past week.
