Human remains found in aftermath of fire at Brant County home

The Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) is investigating after human remains were found inside a home that was destroyed by a fire earlier this week.

Emergency crews responded to a structure fire at Highway 2 in Brant County around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Ontario Provincial Police say the fire was extinguished and the OFM was called in to investigate.

The following day, human remains were found inside the structure.

Investigators are in the process of identifying the person.

Police say updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
