Hewlett-Packard is recalling nearly six million power cords for notebook computers in the U.S. and about half a million more in Canada.

HP has received 29 reports of the cords overheating and melting resulting in two claims of minor burns and 13 claims of minor property damage.

The cords were sold in stores and online from September 2010 through June 2012.

They were distributed with HP and Compaq notebook and mini-notebook computers.

Customers should immediately stop using the cords and contact HP to order a free replacement.
