How the Rogers nationwide outage is affecting our area

Rogers has been hit with a widespread network outage that has left many businesses and customers with no mobile and internet service.
It is also causing problems for emergency calls, hospitals, Service Canada passport offices, Interac services, and more.

Here is how the outage is impacting our area:
City of Hamilton
SERVICE NOTICE: The City of Hamilton is experiencing the following impacts due to the Rogers network outage:

- Customer Contact Centre not impacted, receiving high volume of calls
- Glanbrook Municipal Service Centre experiencing service disruptions
- DARTS experiencing major schedule disruptions
- Interac services at city facilities are not available
- On Street and Municipal car parking – Rogers customers are experiencing issues with paid parking via the Passport App. Drivers should utilize other available forms of payment
Niagara Region
- NRT OnDemand Service – limited number of vehicles on the road
Heads up #Niagara!
The ongoing Rogers Outage is affecting NRT OnDemand service by limiting the number of vehicles on the road. We're working to service all trips that were pre-booked for today.

Police Services
- Hamilton Police – Fully operational, Rogers network callers may have difficulty connecting

- Niagara Regional Police – Fully operational, Rogers network callers may have difficulty connecting
We are aware that Rogers/Fido customers are experiencing network outages that may result in intermittent connectivity to our 911 Dispatch & are encouraged to use landlines or alternative carriers in the event of an emergency.

- Halton Police – Fully operational, Rogers cellular service callers will not be able to connect
We are aware of the Rogers network issue and would like to remind residents that they will not be able to reach 9-1-1 via Rogers cellular service. In the event of an emergency please use a land line or alternate service provider until Rogers rectifies the issue.

Hospitals and Health Centres
- Hamilton Health Sciences – Hospitals are mainly unaffected because they use Bell services. Those affected by the outage include staff and physicians who rely on Rogers’ cellular or internet providers, partner hospitals and other healthcare organizations. HHS is working with other hospitals and health-care partners to ensure continuity of care.

- Niagara Health – Oncology patients with radiation appointments today will have them rescheduled. Any patients requiring emergency radiation treatment will be redirected to Hamilton Health Sciences. Patients with virtual appointments who are not able to connect will also have their appointment’s rescheduled. There are no impacts to patient care at this time.
1/3 Niagara Health is currently impacted by the Rogers cellular service disruption.
At this time, oncology patients with radiation therapy appointments scheduled for today are impacted and their appointments will be rescheduled at the earliest opportunity.

School Campuses
- McMaster University – Students may not be able to use MFA (multi-factor authentication), or campus login services

Rogers has put out a statement on Twitter about the situation but have not provided a timeline of when the network outage will end.
