How Hamilton, Niagara regions are honouring Queen Elizabeth II

From opening a book of condolences at Hamilton city hall to a local shop in Niagara-on-the-Lake closing its doors yesterday to honor Queen Elizabeth II, there are lots going on throughout the region to honor and remember the queen.
The owner of The Scottish Loft in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Simon Bentle closed his store yesterday after hearing of the queen’s death.
“Within about two minutes of hearing about her death, we draped her flag outside. She’s done so much for us not just for the U.K. but all the commonwealth countries as well,” Bentle said.
CHCH News spoke with people in Niagara-on-the-Lake about how they feel about King Charles III now taking over. Many people feel that he’s not going to be accepted.
Today at Hamilton city hall a book of condolences was opened and signed. Mayor Fred Eisenberger was joined by members of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada which is an infantry unit of the Canadian Army Reserve. Hamilton police also joined to pay their respects.
The book will be available at city hall throughout the week for members of the public to sign until the last day of the queen’s funeral. It will be sent to the royal family at Buckingham Palace.
