Hospitals in Greater Hamilton Area see their first babies of 2025

Families and hospitals across the Greater Hamilton Area are celebrating their first newborns of the new year.
St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton announced the birth of a baby girl to parents Ellie and Matt Miller from Hamilton at 12:03 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The hospital celebrated with a gift basket filled with a St. Joe’s teddy bear, am “I was Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital” onesie, a cap and scratch mittens, a book and a gift card to Babies ‘R’ Us, all courtesy of St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation and Gift Shop in the hospital.
Less than half an hour later at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines, a baby boy was delivered to parents Kimberly and Nick Forma.
The family came from Welland and were presented with a trophy from the nurses on the women’s and babies unit as well as a gift basket from the hospital’s gift shop.
The first baby born in the new year at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington arrived at around 5:30 a.m.
Gabriella and Thomas Hamilton from Stoney Creek welcomed their first child – a daughter – over a week after their original due date.
The family received the “time-honoured New Year’s traditional” gift from the hospital.
Each hospital reports the babies and their mothers are doing well.
