The NDP is calling on the Ontario government to stay true to its by-election promise of keeping the Fort Erie race track open long-term. Leader Andrea Horwath says businesses like the race track, which employs thousands, need stability to operate.

“For almost two years this government flip flopped on the Fort Erie race track.”

“Asking the race track for a business plan and then not responding when deadline is looming is just not acceptable.”

Premier Kathleen Wynne announced last month that horse racing would return to the Fort Erie race track in 2014. Wynne says she’ll meet with officials next week to discuss a long-term plan.
