Thanks to an unseasonably mild winter the Hornblower at Niagara Falls is getting a head start to the season. Today marks the earliest start to the famous boat tour which takes passengers to the brink of the Falls.

On day one the Hornblower is already breaking records. 245 people boarded the Hornblower Niagara for its first trip of the season. The Hornblower didn’t start last season until April 30th, following one the coldest winters on record.

“April 1st carrying passengers is the earliest any boat operation has carried passengers in this gorge probably in over 150 years.” Mory Dimaurizo, Hornblower Niagara Cruises.

The Hornblower season is scheduled to end November 30th, but the tour company has applied for an extension right up until December 31st. Tours will operate every 30 minutes and increase to every 15 minutes as the season picks up. The Hornblower’s U.S. Counterpart, The Maid of the Mist will hit the waters starting tomorrow.
