Hamilton Police’s homicide unit has take over the investigation into a missing woman.

Holly Hamilton was last seen by members of her family in the evening of Jan. 14, she said she was going to a friend’s house.

The 29-year-old has never gone missing before and this is described as being out of character for her.

Staff Sergeant Dave Oleniuk says the homicide unit is investigating this missing person’s case so that police can have more resources dedicated to this investigation.

Police have been searching the area around her ex-boyfriend’s apartment near Barton st. and Fairfield ave.  They have been knocking on doors and speaking to nearby residents. The area around an apartment building is tapped off.

Holly’s ex is described as a 30 year old man, who is known to police.  He is the father of Holly’s daughter.

Police say he’s not a suspect yet, they just want to talk to him to rule out the possibility of a domestic situation.

Holly drives a white, 1996 Ford Escort with the licence plate BRBL 996. The vehicle has some damage to one of the front fenders.

Holly was last seen wearing a black parka-style jacket with brown fur on the hood, blue jeans and and black boots.
