Crime family member murdered at Hamilton Mountain home

Hamilton police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the year at a home linked to a well-known organized crime family on Hamilton Mountain.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at 56 Mountain Brow Blvd. just before 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Emergency crews found 43-year-old Cece Luppino suffering from a fatal wound.

Records show the house is owned by Rocco and Helen Luppino, but police say their son, Cece Luppino was living there. He was alone at the time of the shooting and was found by a family member.

Police won’t say that it was a mob hit but say this was a targeted incident.

The Major Crime Unit, along with ACTION team members, will be canvassing the area Thursday and the forensic identification officers will return to the residence to continue their investigation.

Police say there is a lot of surveillance video from the home and neighbouring houses they still need to go through.

In September of last year Al Iavarone was killed by a gunman who waited for him in the bushes outside of his Ancaster home. On May 2nd, 2017 known mobster Angelo Musitano was murdered in his Waterdown driveway. A few months later, his brother Pat Musitano’s house on St. Claire blvd in Hamilton was shot up.

Police say it’s too early to connect all of the shootings, but they are looking into it.

Mob expert James Dubro says there’s no doubt these shootings are connected, “there’s been a settling of accounts and consolidation going on in the mafias in Southern Ontario and Quebec.”

While the Luppino family name is known to police, they say Cece didn’t have a criminal record.
