After a difficult month of personal loss, a St. Catharines man found a way to heal by giving back to strangers. Jeremy Paton hopes his pair of viral videos will inspire others to help out in their community.
John Smith received one of 22 Tim Hortons gift cards handed out in by Jeremy Paton who recorded the random acts in this viral video. Our cameras captured this second chance meeting between the two men, Smith still grateful for Paton’s kindness.
Paton was inspired to give back after 3 of his friends died last month, 2 from suicide. “Just to show that maybe eventually the world will help a bit more and the community will be able to support those people somehow and they will get the help that they need.”
But it’s a second video that captured the internet’s attention, where Paton and friend took a homeless man for a haircut bought him some work boots, dinner and new clothes. And with more than 45 000 views, Paton says the hope is this video will inspire others to make someone’s day.
