The calendar has flipped over to June which means you’ll probably be heading to the beach, camping, maybe going for a paddle somewhere. Or maybe you’ll close the blinds and watch one of this week’s new home video releases because you burn easily. Both are acceptable.

Zootopia

In a year dominated by sequels and remakes, Zootopia is proof positive that there is still room for new, original stories at the box office. During its 14 weeks in theatres so far the film has become the second of the year to cross the $1-billion mark at the box office (Disney’s Captain America: Civil War being the other), and now the film looks to earn even more on home video. Special features include a handful of featurettes and seven deleted scenes but no director’s commentary

Hail, Caesar!

The Coen Brothers added another hit to their list of outstanding films earlier this year with this throwback Hollywood mystery. Featuring a cast that included George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, and breakout star/future young Han Solo Alden Ehrenreich, the film was a critical success but didn’t drive audiences to the theatre, topping out at a $30-million box office haul. The short collection of included featurettes doesn’t add much to the package, but the film is definitely worth a rental for those who missed it in theatres.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi

While most people would have expected the film to be a shallow explosion fest, Michael Bay’s tribute to those involved in the 2012 attacks on an American embassy in Libya was praised for it’s mature portrayal of the events. His genuine interest in the human aspect of the story carries over to the home video release’s special features. “Uncovering Benghazi’s Secret Soldiers” highlights actual contract security workers and promotes the Shadow Warriors Project while the “In Memoriam” clip feature photos of the deceased played over Amazing Grace.
