War for the Planet of the Apes

Backed by another incredible performance by Andy SerkisWar for the Planet of the Apes brought the trilogy to a powerful close this summer. War was the best reviewed film in the series (93% on Rotten Tomatoes) but the lowest grossing domestically ($146.6M). You can buy the film on its own or in a Blu-ray collectors set with the other two instalments if you haven’t added them to your collection already. Both the feature film and the included scenes feature commentary from director Matt Reeves, who is currently in pre-production for Ben Affleck’s Batman standalone film.

Annabelle: Creation

Annabelle: Creation

Who doesn’t like some creepy doll action for Halloween? David F. Sandberg’s Annabelle: Creation hit theatres in August, making a quick turn around to home video this week. The fourth film in The Conjuring series was better received than the first Annabelle, but didn’t do quite as well as the two main Conjuring movies. The next film in the franchise is next year’s The Nun, a spin-off based around the “Demon Nun” from The Conjuring 2.
