Another sleeper success from the summer, Hell or High Water made a splash in its limited release with a 97% Rotten Tomato rating and a $27M box office take. The gritty western heist flick serves as more of a character study led by strong performances by Chris Pine and Ben Foster, who could both be dark horse contenders for awards this year. The home video release features three mid-length featurettes and a 30-minute long filmmaker Q&A filmed at a Los Angeles screening.

It seems like the Mouse House can do no wrong with their new line of live action adaptations. Pete’s Dragon was one of their most obscure properties, yet the film managed to make $142-million worldwide on the back of an 86% Rotten Tomato score. An audio commentary from director and co-writer David Lowery, co-writer Toby Halbrooks, and actors Oakes Fegley and Oona Laurence is included on the disc, as well as two featurettes, deleted scenes, a couple of music videos, and a blooper reel.

If you had to pick a flop from Disney’s releases this year, you could argue that this was it. But The BFG fared well overseas and pulled in $178-million globally (Spielberg’s name is still a huge draw), so you really can’t fault it that much. The home video package includes a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, a Gobblefunk 101 tutorial, and more.
