Retired professor Homa Hoodfar has landed in Montreal after spending nearly four months in an Iranian prison.

The Canadian-Iranian woman was released earlier this week after being detained in Tehran’s notorious Evin prison on allegations of “dabbling in feminism” and security matters.

The 65-year-old is known for her research on Muslim women and there have been suggestions Iran didn’t approve of her studies on homosexuality and women’s sexuality in Muslim countries.
