A 50 year old man is recovering in hospital tonight after a brutal beating, early Sunday morning. The attack took place on King Street East, around 4:00am. The area of the attack, isn’t far from the sites of two gun battles, that took place on the streets of Central Hamilton earlier this summer. Police say they are still investigating and that no one has been taken into custody yet. What we do know so far is that the incident began in Wally’s World, a neighbourhood bar that one area resident described as ” a crack bar.”

A fight broke out in a parking lot at the rear of the bar, where the victim was hit hard enough to leave a small blood stain on the pavement.
Although it’s not clear what happened next, the men involved in the fight ended up in the parking lot of the Big Bear convenience store, at the corner of Holton and King Street East. Police say, the assault continued and they seized a heavy table leg from the parking lot, as the probable weapon used in the attack.

The assault left the victim bleeding heavily, and police say he sustained serious injuries from the beating.
