Some seasonal lights that may pose a potential safety risk to consumers are being recalled.

Health Canada initiated a national sampling and evaluation project to test seasonal lights due to a number of incident reports received.

Testing has shown hazards in several products that may pose a number of risks to consumers including overheating, as well as fire and electric shock hazards.

The first recall involves Life at Home® Indoor M5 Multicolour LED Set of 70 seasonal lights. The product has a length of approximately 7.21 meters (23.7 feet), has multi-coloured bulbs and a green wire. The model number is HPCAL70CX/2S, manufacturing date 06/2015, CSA file number 241989 and UPC 058703379152. Consumers are able to locate the model number, manufacturing date and CSA file number on the white tag affixed to the wire and the UPC on the back of the product’s packaging.

Approximately 61 units of the seasonal lights were sold at Loblaw Companies Ltd. across Canada from September to October 2015.

The second recall involves the Dollarama Christmas Light 50 Miniature Straight Line Indoor Light Set. The product has a length of approximately 3 meters (10 feet), has clear or colored bulbs and a green wire. The recalled product is identified by model number I-50, CSA file number 224823, Dollarama item number 09-3039962 and UPC 667888205394.

Approximately 338,142 light sets were sold in Canada from October 2014 to October 2015.

The final recall involves the Dollarama Halloween 25 Miniature Straight Line Outdoor Light Set. The product has a length of approximately 1.3 meters (4.3 feet), has coloured bulbs and a black wire. The recalled product is identified by model number O-25, CSA file number 224823, Dollarama item number 07-3048456 and UPC 66788840562.

Approximately 19,390 light sets were sold in Canada from August 2015 to October 2015.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled seasonal lights and return them to the store for a refund.
