Police are investigating after someone stole a historic statue from a Niagara Falls cemetery.

Investigators say a bronze statue of Lieutenant General Drummond was taken from the Drummond Hill Cemetery on Lundy’s Lane sometime between Sept. 27 and 29.

The statue sat upon a bronze horse and weighs approximately 330 lbs.

“The theft of Lieutenant General Drummond would have been labour intensive, possibly involving a vehicle to transport the statue,” said police in a news release. “Metal recyclers are asked to be on the look out for the statue and to contact the police to report anything suspicious.”

The statue is valued at roughly $10,000 and stands three-feet tall and is over two-feet in length.

Police say the grounds were also vandalised.

Anyone with information that could help with the investigation is asked to contact 905-688-4111, ext. 1022200.
