Historian says U.S. has tried to annex Canada with tariffs before

In a news conference Tuesday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Donald Trump was trying to collapse the Canadian economy to make it easier for the U.S. to annex Canada.

While the statement seems shocking, historians are saying this is not the first time the U.S. has used tariffs to interfere with Canada’s sovereignty.
